An intriguing all-British fight takes place in London on Saturday night when Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez go head-to-head at the OVO Arena Wembley.
Buatsi and Azeez are part of an exciting domestic scene at 175lbs with the winner putting themselves in line for a chance to face the WBA world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
Azeez has been the more active with two wins in 2023, while Buatsi's appearances in the ring have been sporadic and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn believes this could be the difference come the opening bell.
"I don’t know how it will go, Joshua Buatsi has been so inactive," Hearn said in an interview on Matchroom's YouTube channel.
"On paper, head-to-head, Joshua Buatsi should be dealing with Dan Azeez, but he’s not looked the fighter that I thought he might go on to be, and if he’s not on point I think Dan Azeez would win the fight."
While the winner is set for a world title shot, they may have to wait with Bivol set to face IBF, WBC and WBO champion Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed title later this year.
