Although he says there are no bad feelings against Nicaraguan champion Roman Gonzalez, Juan Francisco Estrada wants to be remembered as the one who knocked out the dangerous "Chocolatito".
With four months to go before he is scheduled to meet his old rival, "El Gallo" Estrada is getting ready to return to the ring for a warm-up fight to end a year and a half of inactivity.
On September 3 in his native Hermosillo, Sonora, Estrada - WBC franchise super flyweight champion - will take on Argi Cortes to get him ready for the fight that awaits him in December.
"I'm working on strength and conditioning. I'm 32 now and not the 22 of that first fight... it's been 10 years where I've been fighting wars. But even though I'm 32 and they say that any boxer is going down, I don't feel like that, I feel very strong," Estrada said.
Far from the injuries that plagued him in past preparations and motivated by his family, Estrada revealed that after his duel against Cortes he will go straight back into training camp to continue working towards the much-anticipated trilogy fight.
"With what I've been preparing and what's left I feel I can beat Roman (Gonzalez) by knockout. He is a very strong fighter who will go down in boxing history and we want to beat him convincingly," he said.
Estrada has been preparing for two months in the Mexican mountains and hopes to avoid any type of injury againts Cortes, in order to land the "El Chocolatito" trilogy fight.
