Akin Reyes and Barak Bess believe that Chantelle Cameron poses a threat to Katie Taylor when the pair fight live on DAZN on May 20.
The pair fight at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, after Amanda Serrano had to pull out of a rematch against the undisputed lightweight fighter.
Cameron is a two-weight champion herself, and both pundits believe it is a huge test for both athletes.
Speaking about the late change to the headliner for the card, Bess told the DAZN Boxing Show: “I’m just as excited. This is greatness, literally, this is like Canelo [Alvarez] moving up, this is like [Vasyl] Lomachenko moving up. A great fighter, a great undefeated fighter, a two-time champion is moving up.
“Already undisputed going for undisputed again at a higher weight class? This higher weight class is five pounds, but think about the girls Cameron has already beat. Mary McGee, she's a big girl, hands big as mine, she can fight. She just beat [Jessica] McCaskill, she beat a woman on the pound-for-pound list. This woman is great.”
Ak praised Taylor for being willing to stay busy and move onto another difficult challenge following Serrano’s withdrawal.
He said: “Let’s give Katie Taylor her flowers. She has proven so much. She can tell Eddie [Hearn]: ‘I’m chilling, I’m waiting for the big payday against Amanda Serrano, I’m waiting for the big one. No, give me whoever else is next. I want it on the same date.'”
Bess concurred.
“She’s been proving herself,” he added. “She fought a Puerto Rican in New York. I think this is a big test, this is a bigger test than Serrano - not skillswise - Cameron is a big girl, eight knockouts, This is a big test for Katie Taylor.”
