The lightweight pair could set up a rematch before the end of the year.

Katie Taylor would welcome a rematch with Amanda Serrano, suggesting the pair could fight again in Ireland.

Taylor is yet to fight professionally in her career in her home country. Matchroom head Eddie Hearn suggested after the fight that another title clash between the duo could take place at Croke Park.

The undisputed lightweight champion defeated her Puerto Rican rival on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, in a fight that was so compelling that a rematch feels inevitable.

With the fight decided by a split decision in Taylor’s favour, there is enough to be fought over once again to settle any doubts.

"We all want to see the best versus the best. A rematch would be absolutely phenomenal," Taylor said in her press conference after the fight. "If it was in Dublin we could sell out Croke Park, 90,000 people, that would be unbelievable.

"We've seen something special here tonight — imagine fighting in front of 80,000 or 90,000 people in Croke Park. Absolutely, that can happen."
