A big fight takes place this weekend but one participant has had to overcome serious injury.

Dan Azeez has the biggest fight of his career this weekend when he faces Joshua Buatsi but he’s lucky to be seeing action at all following a horrific back injury that postponed their original date.

Light-heavyweight bragging rights will be on the line in Saturday night's WBA eliminator as two of Britain’s standout fighters will decide who is more equipped to push on and challenge for bigger honours.

The pair were set to clash last year but that fight was pushed back when Azeez suffered a setback in training.

Now fully rehabilitated and ready to go, the London fighter is eager to make up for last time and has revealed just how stressful the whole situation was.

“I was at a back specialist the day it got pulled. Once the specialist had said the fight is off, that’s when I was really concerned,” said Azeez when speaking to the Daily Star.

“I was in such a bad way, I could hardly walk. Even sitting on the toilet left me in excruciating pain. Sitting in a car, I had to lie down, it was crazy. I was very emotional and thinking ‘what’s going to happen?’”
