Leading British trainer targeting huge Ryan Garcia showdown for his fighter

Leading British trainer targeting huge Ryan Garcia showdown for his fighterGolden Boy

Jamie Moore is hoping Jack Catterall can land a huge fight with Ryan Garcia as he gets his charge ready for another big fight next month.

After defeating Regis Prograis at the backend of 2024 , Catterall was pretty much certain to have a big year this year and that gets underway live on DAZN on Feb 15 when the Chorley man faces Arnold Barboza Jr.

The American will travel to Britain hoping to cause a small shock as he too looks to demonstrate his own world title credentials

Last November, Barboza registered the most impressive win of his career when he featured on yhe Latino Fight Night in Saudi Arabia and defeated former unified world champion, Jose Ramirez.

Both Barboza and Catterall will rightfully feel hard done by that their maiden bout of 2025 is not a world title fight, but the winner of this one is set for a blockbuster clash at some point this year.

Super-lightweight is heating up once again with a number of big-name operators competing near the business end of the division including Garcia, Devin Haney, and Teofimo Lopez.

Moore, who has expertly coached Catterall to this position in recent years, knows Barboza will present a huge risk to his fighter, but that has not prevented him from looking forward.

“In terms of a financial incentive, the Ryan Garcia fight is a huge fight. He always brings in big money,” said Moore when speaking to Pepebet.com

“Teofimo Lopez, for me, if he stays at the weight is regarded as number one in the division for me so if that is the case then I would love Jack to fight him because I have always said for me, Jack Catterall is the number one 140lb fighter in the world and just needs the chance to prove it.

“In a lot of people’s eyes, he already did that (against Josh Taylor) but that’s another story. I know Garcia is tainted from the failed drugs test after the Haney fight and the missed weight so there’s a few issues in context as to whether that fight could take place and the weight but in terms of a financial perspective and a platform, Teofimo and Ryan Garcia are the biggest ones.”
