Leading heavyweight still wants Deontay Wilder fight

Leading heavyweight still wants Deontay Wilder fightMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
The Bronze Bomber is still in demand.

Jared Anderson still hopes to land a fight with Deontay Wilder at some point in his career.

Wilder, 38, looked lost against Zhilei Zhang when he lost in the Matchroom vs. Queensberry night earlier in the year.

He has not yet called time on his in-ring career, though, meaning he could yet be back fighting.

Anderson has been linked with Wilder in the past, and tonight he fights Martin Bakole live on DAZN tonight.

Speaking to BoxingScene, he said he would consider a clash with the Bronze Bomber.

“He's a name, and he's always going to bring his Bronze Bomber fans. As long as he's up to it, as long as the fans are up for it, I will gladly fight him and share the ring with him,” he confirmed.

“I think he's a legend, as far as holding a title and doing what he did as long as he did – especially for starting as late as he did. I respect him as a person and I respect him as a fighter.

“I would love to share the ring with him if possible. It would be a great thing for American boxing considering he was the American heavyweight for the last decade or so to really reign. If not, if he's retired, I'm more than happy to have him pass it on to me.”
