Lennox Lewis faced some of the biggest names in boxing.

Lennox Lewis’ illustrious career saw the British heavyweight share the ring with a number of heavy-handed opponents.

After securing Olympic gold in 1988, Lewis embarked on a superb run that saw him capture the heavyweight title on multiple occasions whilst registering victories over the likes of Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson.

Two low moments for Lewis were sensational upset defeats against Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman when he was stopped both times.

Despite being unable to survive against McCall and Rahman, Lewis doesn’t pick either man as the hardest puncher he faced. That honour goes to Shannon Briggs who Lewis halted in 1998.

“He lacked endurance, but Briggs certainly knew how to put his bodyweight behind a punch,” said Lewis when speaking to The Ring

“Unfortunately for him, you need the full package when you face me, so power isn’t enough. Fans may expect me to say McCall or Hasim Rahman for punching power, but I basically set myself up against both of them.”
