Lennox Lewis had it tough in the gym.

It was 2002 when Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson finally settled their rivalry, but their feud began many years earlier when the pair were sparring partners.

Lewis’ eighth round stoppage of Tyson in Memphis finally closed the door on what had been an eagerly anticipated battle following years of verbal exchanges.

Lewis was still an amateur when Tyson burst on the scene in the mid 1980s, but with the Brit taking over the top spot the following decade, the heavy-handed New Yorker had it all to do when they eventually met.

The pair actually met when both were still raw novices and Lewis has revealed how their initial training sessions went down.

"First day in the gym, bell went, he came across and he was trying to kill me,” reflected Lewis when speaking with Joe Rogan

“I did my Muhammad Ali thing obviously and stayed away from his power, but the first day was really hectic.

"The second day was a little hectic but got better as it went along, and then the last day I actually got the better of him.”
