Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano on April 30th, exclusively live on DAZN, is set to be a fight that will propel women’s boxing. The first female fight to headline Madison Square Garden is fast approaching and it’s not only the boxing community that is filled with excitement as the undisputed lightweight title clash gets closer.
Missy Bo Kearns, a recent league winner with Liverpool, is fully aware of what it takes to be a female sports star at the highest level. The England u23 international has enjoyed a stellar rise with her home city club and although opting to excel at football, Kearns is no stranger to the demands expected from top fighters.
A frequent attendee at Liverpool’s iconic Rotunda ABC, Kearns has trained alongside former world champions such as Liam and Callum Smith, and is full of admiration for what fighters put themselves through. A keen fight fan, Kearns is excited ahead of Taylor vs. Serrano and she’s expecting both fighters to put on a memorable show.
“It’s an unbelievable achievement for them both,” said Kearns during an exclusive sit-down with DAZN. “They’re getting noticed because the talent is there, and it shouldn’t matter whether you’re male or female. I know more about Katie Taylor because I've watched her career and even from just looking at her social media, you can see she’s a role model. It’s the perfect fight to raise awareness for women’s boxing.”
On who will win the fight, Kearns added, “I think Katie is going to win. She’s an unbelievable fighter. I watched her fight against Natasha Jonas, and Natasha is a great fighter herself, and Katie was just so good and really technical. I just think Katie so I’m going to back her to do it.”
