Luis Nery wanted to show that he means business in the super bantamweight division and he did just that by knocking out Filipino Froilan Saludar in just two rounds on Saturday night in Metepec, State of Mexico.
"El Pantera" Nery did not spare his opponent a headbutt that caused a small cut on his right eyebrow during the first round and as soon as he dropped the heavy hands, Saludar resented the punishment.
"I am very happy with this kind of result. I knew Saludar didn't have what it takes to beat me, he came to fight and that's the good thing, but I was ready to get my hands in," said the Mexican as soon as he stepped off the ring.
Nery, who improved his record to 35 wins, with 27 knockouts, did not allow the Oriental to recover and pushed to the extent that within a minute of the round ending he had already sent him to the canvas three times.
The two-time world champion from Tijuana said before the fight that he was interested in beating Saludar to go for the World Boxing Council title, currently held by Stephen Fulton, or if not, to look for the long-awaited fight against Japan's Naoya Inoue.
