Deontay Wilder’s ring return is close to being announced as the former heavyweight champion aims to get back to winning ways.

Reported by Sky Sports , it appears that Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s co-manager, has stated that Wilder is set to confirm when his comeback will be.

For the best part of the last decade, Wilder has been one of boxing’s biggest names thanks to his explosive power and incredible rivalry with numerous top fighters.

Wilder became world champion in 2015 with a points win over Bermane Stiverne and he would reign for five years before losing to Tyson Fury in their second encounter after their first contest was a draw.

Wilder’s career would take a downward turn following the Fury setback as he was once again defeated by the British superstar before consecutive losses against Jospeh Parker and Zhilei Zhang.

The manner of his loss to Zhang, a brutal knockout, led to some concern regarding Wilder’s safety inside the ring and calls for his retirement.

Those wishes are not going to be answered as Wilder is almost certain to fight in 2025 and his return bout is set to be a big moment on this year’s calendar.

Despite enduring some torrid form, Wilder is still hopeful he can secure big fights and that be a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua.

The pair have been linked to a fight for so many years and with each needing a big win, a showdown between the big punchers could deliver inside the ring.
