Malik Scott is taking Deontay Wilder back to a previous stage in his life as he gets ready for a fight with Zhilei Zhang on June 1.
The heavyweight pair will clash on the huge Matchroom vs. Queensberry show in Saudi Arabia and Wilder is fighting to save his career.
The American was outpointed by Joseph Parker at the backend of last year and a loss to Zhang could be disastrous.
Scott, Wilder’s trainer, is getting his man ready for the upcoming challenge and that means taking Wilder back to his old school to perform his running drills.
“Four times a week we're going back to the same running track he used at the start of his career, when he had nothing, when he was a skinny kid trying to work out how he was going to feed his daughter,” said Scott when speaking to Casino Online In.
“It's at the high school he went to, he's walking on his old turf in this camp. Previously, we trained at his home or a fitness gym, but this time we are back on the same track he was on as a kid.
“When you take things back to when you were hungry, when you had absolutely nothing, it puts you in the mental space of not having nothing."
