Manny Pacquiao fought a huge number of high-profile names in his career but one fighter missing from the list is Amir Khan.
The pair sparred multiple rounds when gym mates in Freddie Roach’s Wildcard gym, but a real bout between the pair never materialised despite the pair operating at the business end of the welterweight division at the same time.
Pacquaio has not fought since losing to Yordenis Ugas in 2021 and although it appears likely his career is over, he continues to be linked to big fights.
The next move of the Filipino legend is still unknown, but Khan has welcomed a showdown with his former sparring partner, and he’s urged Pacquiao to get it done.
“Look, it’s a tough one because you get different things told to you,” said Khan when discussing the fight with IFLTV.
“There is interest, Manny’s team want it, the Saudis want to fight in Abu Dhabi. It would be massive. A fight with Manny would definitely motivate [me]. I think he would be perfect.
“We sparred a lot, we know a lot about each other. My last fight against Kell wasn’t the best fight to finish. I feel I’m a lot better than that.”
