Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr.: Spence wishes the best for Terence CrawfordDAZN
Ahead of his welterweight showdown with Manny Pacquiao, Errol Spence Jr. shows a rare sign of respect to WBO champion Terence Crawford.

It's safe to say Errol Spence Jr. enjoys throwing shade towards WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

After announcing his August 21st Fox Sports PPV fight with Manny Pacquiao at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the IBF and WBC champion took to social media to criticise Crawford and his promoter Bob Arum with the following post.

'Done deal! See y’all in Vegas for the biggest fight of the year.', Spence accompanied the post with #blameBOB.

Arum was convinced he could land a Pacquiao fight for Crawford in the Middle East, but after failing to secure a site fee, Spence Jr. swooped in and became the 42-year-old's next opponent.

When asked about whether he enjoys the fact he's got the chance to face Pacquiao instead of Crawford, the Texan showed some respect towards his welterweight rival.

"No, I wish the best for Terence Crawford. I don’t hate on another athlete — especially a Black athlete." Spence said.

"I feel like there’s enough people hating on us. I’ve got nothing but respect for Terence Crawford,”

Boxing fans are desperate for a fight between WBC and IBF welterweight champion Spence and WBO champion Crawford, but after years of back and forth, the clash seems less likely to happen after Spence requested a bigger share of the purse.

Speaking after his win against Danny Garcia last December, Spence made his demands known to Crawford and Top Rank.

"I'm the big dog in the welterweight division," Spence stated.

"He gotta take a backseat and take that 60-40 [split] or 70-30, whatever we give him."

Crawford responded to the Texan's comments with the following post on social media which seemed to shutdown any hopes of a fight with Spence.

When it comes to reconsidering his stance on a more even purse split for a fight with Crawford, Spence is not looking past Pacquiao and wants to stay focused on August 21st.

“It’s something we’re not even thinking about right now," Spence explained.

“The goal is Manny Pacquiao, and the goal has been Manny Pacquiao for a couple of months now. It’s something that we’re 100% focused on. We’re not looking into the future.

"If you look into the future, you get distracted. So right now, it’s Manny Pacquiao.”
