Marco Antonio Barrera was a tremendous fighter.

Marco Antonio Barrera enjoyed a stellar career as he captured world titles across a number of divisions taking on some of boxing’s greatest ever names.

As well as being a world champion on several occasions, Barrera also provided many exciting nights due to memorable battles with Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao.

In 2001, Barrera scored one of the biggest wins of his career as he caused a mini upset to end the unbeaten run of Naseem Hamed.

The Sheffield fighter was seen as one of the biggest punchers in the featherweight division, but Barrera didn’t name his great rival when asked who was the hardest hitter he faced.

“Manny Pacquiao,” said Barrera when speaking to The Ring in 2014.

“Because of the speed of the punch, he’d surprise you with power.”
