Marcos Maidana names the hardest puncher he ever faced and it's not Floyd Mayweather or Amir KhanDAZN
Marcos Maidana played his part in some eventful fights.

Marcos Maidana was often in exciting fights and the Argentine puncher gave Floyd Mayweather an almighty scare in 2014.

Considered not much of a threat to the pound-for-pound king at the time, Maidana was relentless for 12 rounds as he pushed Mayweather close before losing a majority decision to the Michigan man.

The pair would renew hostilities in an immediate rematch, but Mayweather had learned enough from the first fight to win in a more dominant manner.

The two bout serries were the final bits of actions from Maidana’s impressive career, but was Mayweather the hardest puncher he faced?

Despite being on the receiving end of Mayweather’s attacks for 24 rounds, Maidana doesn't credit his rival as the most powerful opponent he faced.

That honour goes to Victor Ortiz who Maidana stopped in 2009.

“Victor Ortiz, this is the hardest puncher I’ve faced,” said Maidana when speaking to The Ring

“He didn’t drop me three times in our fight for nothing. Yet, I knocked him out.”
