Mark Magsayo is hoping that Manny Pacquiao still has one more fight in him.
Magsayo fought last night when he lost his WBC featherweight championship as well as his unbeaten record to Rey Vargas on Saturday night.
In his most recent fight, Pacquiao also suffered defeat, losing his WBA strap to Yordenis Ugas last August in an upset loss.
The Filipino politician’s promotional company represents Vargas, and the two are occasionally in contact, but Magsayo told BoxingScene.com that he was hoping for one more fight so he can retire on a win.
“I don’t know,” Magsayo said of Pacquiao’s future. “He’s the one who knows his body and his mind. If he fights, it’s OK, as long as I’m on the undercard.
“One more win and retire.”
Magsayo described the relationship the pair have.
“It’s very important,” he explained. “He’s teaching me now. He’s talking to me now like a brother, so it’s an honor to talk about boxing and styles. He told me how to win this fight. He encouraged me.
“He gave me some tips. He gave me some advice, so it really means a lot to me. It’s really good to have a legendary fighter to talk to me about my future fights.”
