Mauricio Lara sends stinging shots toward Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington following TKO of Jose Sanmartin

Mauricio Lara sends stinging shots toward Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington following TKO of Jose SanmartinDAZN

Another fight, yet another savage knockout for Mauricio Lara.

Moments after Lara crushed Jose Sanmartin with a left hook for a third-round TKO Saturday night, he turned his attention toward WBA "regular" featherweight world champion Leigh Wood and rival Josh Warrington, peppering them with some shots, too.

When DAZN's Claudia Trejos gauged his interest in clashing with Wood and Warrington, a game "Bronco" fired away saying he wants to fight both.

"With Warrington, it's become something very personal and for Wood, he doesn't have a right to call himself a champion," Lara said in Spanish fresh off his win at the Plaza de Toros in his hometown of Mexico City, and live on DAZN.

When Trejos pressed Lara for an explanation to the latter point, the 24-year-old made another pointed offering.

"Well, because he said he was hurt," Lara touted referring to the biceps injury Wood suffered that scrapped their fight. "I saw various stories on places like Instagram and it looks like it's not true."

Upon second thought, Lara said he prefers to fight Warrington with more urgency than Wood at this point.

"I want to face Josh Warrington (next)," Lara said. "It's become something very personal and I want to retire him from boxing."

Lara shocked Warrington with a ninth-round TKO in February 2021. Their rematch less than seven months later was stopped after the second round and ruled a technical draw after an accidental head clash caused a cut to Lara. That being said, another fight between Lara and Warrington would mark a trilogy between the heated rivals.
