Michael Conlan’s trainer is well aware of the danger posed by Jordan Gill, but expects his fighter to triumph nonetheless.
Conlan decamped to Pedro Diaz’s Mundo Boxing in Miami after suffering two title challenge defeats in the last two years.
First up was a 2022 loss against Leigh Wood, and earlier this year he fell short against Luis Alberto Lopez.
A move to Miami has “energised” the 32-year-old Irish fighter, according to his new trainer, Diaz.
He and Gill will fight in Dublin on December 2, shown live on DAZN. A win for Conlan could move him back into a position where he can make it third time lucky in pursuit of a world championship.
Speaking to DAZN, the trainer acknowledged that, “Jordan Gill is a very good fighter, very complete.”
However with Conlan and Diaz working hard in Florida, he believes that Conlan will be the winner.
He continued: “But Mick had a great camp, and he’s ready. He’s energised and motivated and I think Mick is going to be the winner.
“It’s going to be a good fight. It’s a good fight but we’re going to go for the victory.”
