Former unified women's super featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer is hopeful a rematch with Alycia Baumgardner can still be made in the future.
The pair went head-to-head in London last year in what was a thrilling contest, but it was Baumgardner who emerged victorious via a split decision.
Many expected Mayer and Baumgardner to face each other for a second time, but Mayer has instead decided to move up to lightweight and take on Christina Linardatou this weekend.
But when speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show, Mayer made it clear that it was Baumgardner who is responsible for failing to make the rematch.
"I made it very clear that I wanted a rematch," Mayer stated.
"It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how lucrative a rematch between me and Baumgardner would be. To me, she’s just being a dumba—s.
"I know we didn’t have a rematch clause and that’s my bad, I planned on moving up after this fight.
"I don’t know what the problem is, but at the end of the day I’m not going to sit around and wait for her."
