Former welterweight champion Austin Trout believes that Muhammad Ali would be the winner if he were to come up against Tyson Fury.
Ali is regarded by many as the greatest heavyweight of all time, and made his name not just for his in-ring brilliance, but his attitude outside the ring, as well as his passionate political stances over the Vietnam war and more.
Fury is also known for his colourful behaviour outside the ring and has dealt with mental health problems and substance abuse as he has battled to win two world championship belts, and stayed unbeaten.
In 2023 he is expected to face unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in what might be his final fight before retirement.
Speaking to DAZN, Trout was unequivocal when it came to choosing the winner of hypothetical match-up, citing the common belief that heavyweights from previous eras are superior.
“Ali - they don’t make heavyweights like they used to,” he began, before acknowledging Fury’s place in history.
“We can still talk about Fury as one of the greatest, but not like them.”
