The Japanese pound-for-pound superstar has penned a deal that could open the door for him to feature on a supercard in Saudi Arabia down the line.

Naoya Inoue has become the latest major fighter to become a Riyadh Season ambassador, with the undisputed super bantamweight champion striking an agreement this week.

The Japanese superstar, arguably the leading pound-for-pound fighter in the world, moved to a 28-0 professional record in September when he defeated TJ Doheny.

His next bout is scheduled for Christmas Eve against Australian fighter Sam Goodman, his mandatory challenger, as he looks to mount another successful defence.

But news of an agreement with Riyadh Season could now open the door for Inoue to feature on one of the General Entertainment Authority's supercards in Saudi Arabia.

Taking to social media, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh posted an image of himself with the fighter, and promised "big surprises coming soon" for fans.

Inoue's promoter Bob Arum previously suggested that he hoped to take the 31-year-old back to the United States, having previously fought in California and Las Vegas.

Riyadh Season meanwhile are preparing to host Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2 this December, available on DAZN PPV.
