Natasha Jonas suggests pundits have written her off ahead of her bout with Lauren Price, but believes she can deny a "passing of the torch" moment between the two.
The veteran puts her IBF and WBC welterweight belts on the line in a unification bout with the WBA title holder at London's Royal Albert Hall this March in a blockbuster bout.
At 40, Jonas is in the twilight of her career after turning down retirement in 2024, while Price is looking to build her professional reputation after Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.
Many have tipped the latter to therefore deliver a victory as she continues to rise through the ranks, but the former is determined to upset the anticipated storyline.
"I think what they’re expecting is a ‘passing of the torch’ moment because I’m nearer the end of my career and Lauren’s at the start of hers," she told Betfred.
"Big things are expected of her. That’s what I think the narrative has been, but I’m here to upset the apple cart.
"It’s not something I haven’t heard before, but I believe my boxing IQ is better, my timing’s better and I think my accuracy is better."
Jonas also reiterated her desire to face Katie Taylor again, having lost as an amateur and a professional to the Irish star, before she hangs up her gloves for good.
"Katie is a fight that’s personal to me," she added. "I need that win before I hang up my gloves and it’s a fight that I believe I can win.
"Win on the 7th of March and whatever fight comes next will be undisputed, regardless of whether that’s Katie or Mikaela Mayer. The main thing is that I win on March the 7th."
