UFC fighter Nate Diaz mocked Jake Paul’s chances of defeating Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
Paul has five professional fights to his name, and despite winning all of them he has yet to fight a recognised boxer.
His most recent bout came in December 2021 when he knocked out Tyron Woodley in their rematch, but that came as Tommy Fury dropped out with a broken rib and bacterial chest infection.
As part of the promotion for Paul’s MVP and Eddie Hearn’s DAZN show headlined by Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano, the cruiserweight made the prediction that in the not-too-distant future he would be a match for Canelo, who often works with Hearn for his fights, including next weekend’s light heavyweight title fight with Dmitry Bivol - also shown on DAZN .
Diaz was informed that Paul believes he would beat Canelo, leading Diaz to exclaim, “At what?” reported BoxingScene.com .
Paul is still looking for his next fight after suggesting he could return to action this August after time away with promotional duties for Taylor vs. Serrano at Madison Square Garden.
In the fallout of the fight Conor McGregor and Paul exchanged barbs, and the pair have often discussed the potential of meeting in the ring.
Diaz meanwhile is under contract with the UFC for one more fight, and could be a contender as a high-profile fighter, but who is not perceived as a straight-up boxer.
