Oleksandr Usyk has no plans to retire if he defeats Tyson Fury once more

Oleksandr Usyk says he will return to the cruiserweight division in search of a third career undisputed crown if he defeats Tyson Fury on Saturday, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

The Ukrainian will face The Gypsy King at Riyadh Season's Reignited this weekend, seven months on from their first encounter at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia last May.

There, Usyk took a split-decision victory to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era, handing Fury the first defeat of his professional career.

Ahead of their rematch in Riyadh though, The Cat has now revealed that he plans to return to his former weight class if he wins again, and chase another unanimous crown.

Usyk v Fury competition

"[If] I win again, [in] a second fight, I'll try cruiserweight again [for the undisputed title]," he told Sky Sports News. "I'll try. I feel good. [This is] the 13th round because I feel like this."

Having won gold at heavyweight at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Usyk began his professional career at cruiserweight and won the WBO title in his tenth fight, in 2016.

He subsequently defeated Murat Gassiev to become undisputed in the division in July 2018, and made one defence, against Tony Bellew in November that year.

Usyk then stepped up to the heavyweight division with wins over Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora, before he defeated Anthony Joshua for the WBA, IBF and WBO titles.

A return to cruiserweight has been mooted as a potential path should he beat Fury again, but the Briton will be determined to exact his revenge and set up a lucrative trilogy bout.

On his opponent's chances, Usyk played down the chance for his rival to get the best of him, suggesting that he needs to back up his words with his performance in the ring.

"Tyson Fury had a chance [to hurt me] in the sixth round, maybe the seventh round, maybe 12th, 11th, first, second," he added.

"But Tyson did not do it. It's just talk. Tyson said I had the chance. Yeah, no problem. We have a second fight, I'll try."
