New WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk insists there is more to come ahead of a likely rematch with Anthony Joshua.
Last month, Usyk put on a masterclass over 12 rounds against the defending champion in Tottenham before taking a deserved decision on the scorecards. Despite the fantastic display, the Ukranian fighter, now a two-weight champion, believes he can still perform even better.
“The performance against AJ was a good Oleksandr Usyk but I will be even better next time,” said Usyk when speaking exclusively to DAZN's German language team.
“I don’t feel any limitations. I will be stronger and faster next time. You always have to crush your limits with work ethic, ambition, and hard work. Move ahead and don’t let anyone stop you.”
A rematch between the pair has been discussed for early next year with Joshua taking full advantage of the clause that existed in the contract for the original meeting.
Following his loss to Andy Ruiz in 2019, Joshua regrouped before winning back his titles, but Usyk is prepared to bring a better version the second time around.
On the result against Joshua, Usyk added, “My team was the key. I had to stick to the strategy of making pressure, keeping the pace up until the end. The most important thing is to keep the concentration. Keeping the pressure up and staying concentrated.”
