A rematch date has been set for the undisputed heavyweight title rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
The pair met in a thrilling matchup on May 18 in Riyadh which saw Usyk crowned boxing's first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.
Fury, who appeared to be in control for the first half of the fight, saw this slip away in the second half of the contest as Usyk increased the intensity and was even close to stopping the British fighter in round nine. This resurgence was enough for Usyk to be declared the winner on two of the three judges' scorecards.
It was no secret that Usyk and Fury were contracted to a rematch scheduled to take place later this year and now a date for the second meeting has been set by Turki Alalshikh in a post on X.
"The rematch between the undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk and the champion Tyson Fury is now scheduled on the 21 of December 2024 during Riyadh Season, " Alalshikh wrote.
"The world will watch another historical fight again...Our commitment to boxing fans continues...We hope you enjoy it..."
