Oleksandr Usyk’s former trainer believes there is a way to victory for WBC champion Tyson Fury.

The two heavyweights meet on Saturday, May 18, live on DAZN PPV, with the winner crowned the first-ever undisputed champion of the four-belt era.

The two of them are some of the smartest heavyweights around, and while Fury sometimes uses a southpaw stance, his natural approach is orthodox.

James Ali Bashir trained Usyk between 2013 and 2016, and the Ukrainian takes a southpaw stance, which many fighters find difficult to accommodate.

Speaking to BoxingScene.com, Bashir suggested a straightforward approach to deal with the left-hander.

“[With Fury] I would use the strategy that I would use against any southpaw. To back him up; to make Usyk fight him while Usyk is always in retreat," said Bashir.

“Make him fight; constantly move him back; never let Usyk settle; never let him rest; never leave him alone in the ring, because if he leaves him alone then he has time to calculate what he wants to do to Tyson.

“Tyson will have to cut the ring, push him back and rough him up; take him out of his element; down a street he’s not used to going down. [Throw] lots of body punches.”
