Canelo Alvarez has advised Jake Paul to ‘calm down’ as the popular YouTuber continues to aim high in the boxing world.
Earlier this month, Paul rebounded from his loss to Tommy Fury with a dominant points win over former UFC star, Nate Diaz.
Canelo’s name was mentioned by Paul in the post-fight press conference, but it doesn’t look like the Mexican icon has any interest in the bout.
Next month, Canelo will collide with Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas with David Benavidez or Dmitry Bivol likely to be the next target if he emerges victorious.
Despite respecting what Paul has accomplished in such a brief time, Canelo recognises the level between the pair and has offered the American some advice.
“My level is another level, but look, I think he needs to enjoy what he’s doing and that’s it,” said Canelo when speaking to Mirror Fighting.
"He needs to calm down and start calling out people with other levels. I think he needs to focus on what he’s doing. He’s doing good things. Enjoy that.”
