Oscar De La Hoya reveals potential comeback date for Ryan Garcia

Oscar De La Hoya reveals potential comeback date for Ryan GarciaDAZN

Oscar De La Hoya wants Ryan Garcia back in action this summer as the California star aims to rebuild following his recent loss to Gervonta Davis.

Despite making a decent start in the opener, Garcia was down in the fight’s second round, and he was second best until ‘Tank’ ended matter in the seventh session with a well-timed body shot.

Garcia handled the defeat well and he’s determined to return to the highest level in the sport.

De La Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, has mentioned August as a potential comeback date and with plenty of time still left in Garcia’s career considering he’s only 24, the young star can still fulfil his potential and compete for the sport’s biggest honours moving forward.

“I’m really excited and proud that Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis proved that they’re pay-per-view stars,” said Oscar De La Hoya when speaking to Fighthype.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing him back in August. That soon. Take a couple of weeks off, not a couple of months, and get right back to it. I see in Ryan Garcia that he does want to be a legend. He does want to be a world champion.

“So, he’s hungry, he’s motivated. This is what he loves to do. It’s going to be fun to get him back with the right opponent.”
