The Golden Boy promoter discussed some potentially huge fights with Top Rank's Bob Arum.

Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya is in talks with Top Rank's Bob Arum about two of potentially the biggest fights of the yer.

Teofimo Lopez, the unified - and to some, undisputed - lightweight champion could face Ryan Garcia, while Terence Crawford could make a fight with Vergil Ortiz Jr., despite Crawford's lack of interest.

Speaking to Boxing with Chris Mannix on DAZN, the former world champion said of the discussions: "It’s very real. I’m talking to Bob Arum, I’m having lunch at his home in Beverly Hills. We were talking about fights we can we make together.

"One thing about me and Bob is we’re not afraid to make fights happen, fights that the fans want to see. We obviously talked about Vergil and Crawford. We talked about Ryan Garcia vs. Teofimo."

However, De La Hoya acknowledged that a fight with Ortiz might not be so attractive to Crawford.

"If I was in Crawford’s position I would say what has he accomplished, who has he beat? But if nobody wants to fight you now, we’re presenting to you a rising star in Vergil Ortiz, why not take the fight?"

Asked by Mannix if he would take an Ortiz fight if he were Crawford, he could not have been clearer: "Hell no!"

As for 22-year-old lightweight Garcia, the promoter said that he would be discussing a strategy for the path forward for the WBC interim champion.

"We sat down with his manager, we had some really good dialogue, a plan that he really loves," he explained.

"We’re going to sit down with him next week. It’s a very ambitious plan.

"Ryan is in a very unique position, having to be one of the most popular fighters today without a world title is very unique.

"It doesn’t amaze me that every world champion is calling him out - without a world title. I think Ryan’s on the verge of becoming a superstar, but you have to beat the champions."
