Keyshawn Davis praised his opponent Miguel Madueno after securing victory on Saturday night.
Davis is one of the rising stars of the division and the Olympic silver medallist moved onto 11-0 after a unanimous decision victory in Newark, New Jersey.
He was fighting on the undercard of the Shakur Stevenson vs. Artem Harutyunyan card, and there was an extraordinary moment as Davis was lifted off his feet by his opponent in the seventh round.
Nevertheless, Davis kept his composure and won on the scorecards.
"He's a rough type of a guy, a real physical type of guy," Davis said after his win.
"We were doing a lot of rough tactics in there, just trying to get under each other's skin.
"We were both tough in there, and neither of our wills got broke."
