Promoter makes key prediction for Jermell Charlo's future fights

Promoter makes key prediction for Jermell Charlo's future fightsDAZN
He thinks the American will not do one thing again.

Promoter Stephen Espinoza believes it is unlikely that Jermell Charlo will fight at super middleweight again any time soon.

Charlo fought Canelo Alvarez last year, with the American moving up the weight classes for one of the biggest names in boxing.

Canelo will next fight on September 14 against Edgar Berlanga, live on DAZN.

While many boxers offer to move up or down the divisions in pursuit of a lucrative clash with the Mexican, Espinoza believes that Charlo is likely to move down to middleweight or junior middleweight, where he is more comfortable.

“I’ve stayed in touch with them,” Espinoza told BoxingScene regarding the twins, Jermell and Jermall.

“I saw Jermell at the Tank fight and he’s ready to go and I know he’s motivated. He’s disappointed in his performance against Canelo, as everyone else was, and he’s definitely out to prove that that was a fluke. He’s as motivated and anxious to get back in there as ever and there’s a lot of activity available for him; there’s a lot of good fights available for him, at ‘54 or ‘60, wherever he decides.

“I don’t think you’ll see him at 68 [where he fought Canelo] again. He’s got a lot of mileage left. You’ve never seen Jermell take a significant amount of punishment. He’s still athletic and I think the sport is better when he and his brother are active.”
