'Humbling!' - Raven Chapman aware of historic opportunity ahead of Skye Nicolson clash

'Humbling!' - Raven Chapman aware of historic opportunity ahead of Skye Nicolson clashMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing
The Briton will write her name into the history books when she meets with the Australian in the ring this weekend.

Raven Chapman admits her bout with Skye Nicolson will be "humbling" as they prepare to make history as the first women on a Riyadh Season bill, live on DAZN this weekend.

The duo will square off for the latter's WBC women's featherweight title on a card topped by Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol's undisputed light-heavyweight championship battle.

Chapman, who has gone unbeaten across her nine-fight professional career, will have the chance to bid for a first world crown when she faces the Australian.

But regardless of the outcome, the Briton believes that the opportunity to break new ground for women's boxing will be something to cherish for years to come.

"Yeah, it’s huge," she told DAZN's FACE OFF. "There’s not many things now that can go down in history. Most things have been done.

"So to be part of something that will be in the history books forever is massive. It’s really humbling. I’m just proud to be part of that. I feel very grateful and honoured."

The bout will pit two women together with vastly different styles, promising a particularly entertaining matchup for supporters around the globe.

Chapman joked that the encounter would be one where Nicolson's fans could be entertained, given the latter's reputation for grinding victories short on explosive action.

"It’s that kind of bull-versus-matador, boxer-versus-fighter type fight," she added. "If you look back in history, those are the fights that go down as the really exciting ones.

"Because they can be back-and-forth. That’s why I’m excited. The fans will finally get an exciting fight for Skye."
