Regis Prograis could be in line to face one of Britain's best fighters in his next fight, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Prograis has not fought since losing his WBC super lightweight title to Devin Haney in December and there is yet to be any official announcement on what he will do next.
One name that could be in contention to face Prograis is Sheffield's very own Dalton Smith, who made a statement with a knockout win over former world title challenger Jose Zepeda last month.
Now Hearn, who promotes both Prograis and Smith, believes a fight between the two could be next, whilst not dismissing the possibility of challenging for another world title at 140lbs.
"[Prograis is] waiting to fight,” Hearn told Boxing Scene.
“He’ll fight about August time. I’d quite like a fight with Dalton Smith. Possibly [he’ll travel to the U.K.].
“He’d rather fight in the U.S., but if the money’s there he’ll consider it. You’ve also got the Subriel Matias-Liam Paro winner.
“[There’s interest] both ways. We’re looking at options for the fight in America or in England. It’s a big jump up [for Smith] – a big step up. But, we’ll see.”
