Ricky Hatton tells Jack Catterall that he must 'believe' against Josh Taylor

Ricky Hatton tells Jack Catterall that he must 'believe' against Josh TaylorDAZN
All four world titles are on the line this weekend when Josh Taylor faces Jack Catterall.

Jack Catterall is facing an almighty struggle as he heads to Scotland to face Josh Taylor. That’s the verdict of Ricky Hatton who has first-hand experience of what it’s like to cause a giant shock at 140lbs.

In 2005, Hatton shocked the world when he forced Kostya Tszyu to remain on his stool as he captured the Australian’s world title.

Catterall beating Taylor would be an even bigger shock.

The talented Scot has climbed the P4P rankings impressively in recent years due to brilliant wins over quality performers such as Regis Prograis and Jose Ramirez. Those displays make him a huge favourite against Catterall, but Hatton says the Chorley man must believe he can win.

"It will be like walking into the lion’s den up there in Scotland, but I remember Michael Gomez doing the same, heading up to Edinburgh and knocking out Alex Arthur,” said Hatton in his latest Metro Column .

“Arthur was the rising star, and nobody gave Michael a chance that night. These things happen. Jack has got to believe that.

“It is a hard one for me. I’m hoping Jack Catterall can pull off a shock and get the win against Josh Taylor. He is trained by a mate of mine in Jamie Moore, and I have known him a good few years. He has been in the gym sparring with my boys, he is a great kid.

"I’m hoping Jack can do it, but as for a prediction, I have to go with Josh to retain his belts on points.”
