Moses Itauma stopped Mariusz Wach in just two rounds on Saturday night.
The 44-year-old has a patchy record of late, but won his last bout against Michal Bolos back in October, and also fought Wladimir Klitschko in a world title fight back in 2012.
That pedigree and experience counted for little against the 19-year-old British heavyweight, who bounced him out of the ring in just two rounds with a brutal flurry of blows that required the referee to intervene.
Wach recently went the distance with Frazer Clarke, so for some it was a surprise that the fight ended so quickly.
Speaking after the win, Itauma felt the victory deserved credit.
“I do feel like Mariusz Wach was known for taking people the distance but he’s not boxed someone like me before,” he said.
“I feel like that is a big statement. I think the quickest he’s been stopped is six rounds and I’ve done it in two.
“It lets the heavyweight division know that I’m here. I’m only 19 but come on, man. Give me some credit.”
