Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are set to do battle on April 20, but one fighter is on standby to step in on the off chance one of the fighters doesn't make it.
Arnold Barboza Jr is a fighter on the brink of competing in the highest class and he may get his chance after revealing he could save the show.
Garcia and Haney, rivals since their amateur days, have been trading insults with each other since their fight was announced last month.
Super-lightweight honours will be up for grabs in this personal clash, but Barboza, slated for the undercard of the event, is more like than ready to feature in the main event if there’s any sort of issue that prevents Haney or Garcia from fighting.
“I’m in the co-main event, and I’m standing by as well,” said Barboza Jr when speaking to BoxingScene.
“That’s why we haven't announced our opponent yet because there could be a big possibility that Ryan doesn’t get his s--- together and we step up and fight Haney.”
