The former interim champion is not wanting for confidence.

Ryan Garcia not only wants to fight George Kambosos Jr., he thinks he would beat him in the seventh round or quicker.

Kambosos became the unified WBA, WBC Franchise. WBO and IBF lightweight champion in a surprise win over Teofimo Lopez at the tail end of 2021 and has been linked with a number of follow-ups.

One option is Vasyl Lomachenko, who held three of the belts before Lopez. Another is the WBC champion, Devin Haney, who offers up the chance to decide the undisputed 135lb fighter.

Now Garcia, who is planning his return in April after more than a year away from the ring due to mental health and injury problems, has suggested he would be the right opponent for the Australian.

“I do like that fight,” Garcia told Elie Seckbach. “I would sell better than all these other guys. I win this fight. I knock him out probably within seven rounds.”

Garcia last fought in January 2021 when he took on Luke Campbell and suffered his first career knockdown. He was lined up to fight JoJo Diaz before having wrist surgery.

The 23-year-old fighter hinted that Kambosos could see him as vulnerable given his recent problems with inactivity.

“I hope he wants it,” said Garcia. “I make more sense. I’m coming off a layoff. He just got the belts. I just got the surgery. I’m the perfect picking.”
