There could be a huge match-up in 2024.

Ryan Garcia has given an update on his proposed fight with Devin Haney.

On Tuesday night, the super lightweight fighter took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say that he had asked his representatives to negotiate a fight with Haney.

Haney’s most recent fight saw him become the WBC super lightweight champion with a victory over Regis Prograis.

Garcia, meanwhile, beat Oscar Duarte to get back to winning ways after his defeat to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis earlier in the year.

Haney has entertained a number of potential moves next, with Davis one high-profile fight that many want to see, and Rolly Romero - the WBA champion at 140lbs - offers the chance for Haney to start unifying another weight class.

Garcia, though, wants to make the fight.

He wrote on X: “I’ve advised my team to contact team Haney to discuss and make the fight happen between Devin and I #GarciaHaney”.

He then added: “The ball is in your court Devin I’ve made my move and I’m showing you and the boxing community that I’m committed to this fight. #GarciaHaney”.
