Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis undoubtedly face the biggest test of their professional careers when they square off against each other later this year.
The warring lightweights have been linked to each other for numerous years and it looks like they’ll eventually settle their lengthy war of words later this year with a contest virtually agreed.
‘Tank’ faces Hector Garcia this Saturday as he prepares for the eagerly anticipated grudge match while Garcia has decided against a January bout preferring to jump straight in with Davis.
The Baltimore man will begin the fight a slight favourite and Amir Khan, a fighter who knows all about huge fights, has issued a warning to Garcia before he faces his heavy-handed rival.
“Ryan Garcia has to keep it long,” said Khan when speaking to Fight Hub TV.
“Counter him every time. Throw them hard shots in. Every shot that Ryan throws has to be hard and accurate.
“He can’t let Tank smother him, or get too close, because that’s when he’s in trouble. Ryan has to have strong legs, have good feet, keep it long, keep it moving left to right. Don’t let Tank settle, because once he settles, he’s going to let those big bombs off.”
