Ryan Garcia and Emmanuel Tagoe got one final look at one another before Saturday's fight.

SAN ANTONIO — At Wednesday's open workouts, Ryan Garcia and Emmanuel Tagoe nearly traded blows. However, it was a different story at Thursday's press conference when they were complimentary toward one another.

What would happen Friday when Garcia and Tagoe went face-to-face as they tipped the scales for their 139-pound catchweight bout?

Well, they made weight with no drama as Garcia weighed 138.8 pounds and Tagoe was 138.2.

Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) returns to action for the first time since getting dropped and rebounding for a seventh-round TKO over Luke Campbell in January 2021. He bowed out of a July fight with Javier Fortuna due to mental health issues and a November bout with Jo Jo Diaz because of a broken wrist.

"You're gonna see what I always do," Garcia said after the weigh-in. "I go in the ring, and I search, find and destroy, so I'll be looking to have an explosive performance. Let's see what he brings."

The 23-year-old switched things up in this camp as he replaced Eddy Reynoso with Hall of Fame trainer Joe Goossen. While the trainer is different, the goal for Saturday remains the same.

"Just a man on the mission," Garcia said. "The job's not done, and I'm ready to prove who I am. So every day, every fight, I have that in mind, and I'll be bringing that into the ring with me."
