Oscar De La Hoya believes that Ryan Garcia is the likely winner when and if he faces Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
While there is not yet an official announcement to confirm the clash, many - including the boxers - anticipate a fight on April 15.
Tank’s last match-up was an early 2023 victory over Hector Garcia, but Ryan Garcia has instead elected to stay away from the ring so far this year in order to focus on the expected Tank clash.
De La Hoya is Garcia’s promoter, acknowledged that Davis is a dangerous fighter, given he has stayed unbeaten after collecting a number of titles at various weight classes.
“Tank’s a beast,” said De La Hoya, reported BoxingScene.com. “He is but now, I have to give Ryan the advantage.”
The Golden Boy promoter explained what he saw as Garcia’s advantages coming into the fight, and suggested there was a clear path to a knockout victory for his man.
“I love the fact that Ryan fights tall,” he added. “Ryan’s a fighter who fights tall and throws that snap jab with the right hand and check hook. If he catches Tank coming in, it’s goodbye, it’s goodnight.”
