Ryan Garcia vs. Tank Davis: 'I don't see why that fight shouldn't be made', Eddie Hearn believes

After thrashing Javier Fortuna on Saturday, Ryan Garcia made it clear he wants Gervonta Davis next.

"I will fight Tank next," Garcia defiantly said in his post-fight interview with DAZN's Chris Mannix.  If the fight gets made, it's one of the top three bouts to make in the sport, which can bring a different set of eyeballs due to the massive social media audience Garcia brings and the huge hip-hop audience Davis brings. 

"(Ryan Garcia) Gervonta Davis is a massive fight," Eddie Hearn said on the latest edition of The DAZN Boxing Show. 

"It's two different fan bases. It's just such a great mix of styles, of personalities, narrative. I hope those guys can get it made. I really do. I think Ryan will take that fight. I don't see why Gervonta Davis wouldn't want to take that fight. I'm sure he thinks he beats Ryan Garcia convincingly. So hopefully, everyone involved can make that happen."

Garcia talked about wanting the fight at 140 pounds as he competed in his last two contests in the junior welterweight division. In contrast, Davis has fought once there, stopping Mario Barrios in June 2021 to win a secondary title. But a roadblock does loom. 

Garcia is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and fights on DAZN. Davis is under the Premier Boxing Champions banner and fights on Showtime. Regardless of the weight class, belts, promotional outfits, or network affiliations, what Garcia and Davis bring to the table should throw all of that aside so the fight can happen.

"I think we all know realistically, Tank probably makes 135 quite comfortably if he does it properly," Hearn said.

"I don't think it really matters. I mean, you're getting to a stage now where some of those fights, belts are irrelevant. And actually, Tank against Ryan Garcia, I don't care if it's at 136, 7,8, 9, 40. Like whatever. It's just a really good fight. I don't see why that fight shouldn't be made."
