Savannah Marshall names stipulation for Claressa Shields rematch, American predicts outcome

Savannah Marshall names stipulation for Claressa Shields rematch, American predicts outcomeDAZN

Savannah Marshall became the undisputed women's super-middleweight champion after defeating Franchon Crews-Dezurn on Saturday night and immediately looked for a rematch against Claressa Shields.

Marshall is the only woman to beat Shields, albeit in the amateurs, and it was the American who claimed victory in their professional bout eight months ago.

As one of the biggest names in women’s boxing - Shields styles herself as the GWOAT (greatest woman of all time) - a rematch would surely be a popular match-up with fans.

However, Marshall had one stipulation for the fight, which is that it takes place at 168lbs, given the difficulties she has in cutting another eight pounds to fight.

"I don't think I will make middleweight - it is a bit of a tight squeeze but she can have a shot at super-middle," Marshall said after her win.

Shields, speaking on Sky Sports, replied: "If Savannah comes to the USA I'll fight her at any weight. I already came over here [to the UK] and beat her up.

"If she comes to the USA she will get rocked in Detroit. She has a lot of weaknesses and didn't learn from her last fight against me."
