Seniesa Estrada names potential future opponents after latest title win

Seniesa Estrada names potential future opponents after latest title winGolden Boy Promotions

Fresh off her win last month against Tina Rupprecht, Seniesa Estrada is already looking ahead to what lies next.

Estrada now holds the WBA and WBC female minimumweight titles after defeating Rupprecht by unanimous decision on March 25, and the undefeated fighter has the opportunity to assess the landscape before commiting to her next fight.

Having seen what the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight did for women's boxing last year, Estrada is on the lookout for opponents that can bring her next bout up to a similar level.

"I think there's opponents out there for me where it can be a big fight like Katie and Amanda — and that fight was just incredible and it was amazing to be at because it was such a great matchup with two great fighters," Estrada told the DAZN Boxing Show. "I think that can definitely happen for me and throughout my career with the certain fighters. There's so many talented, good fighters in the smaller weight divisions."

One name put forth by DAZN Boxing Show hosts Ak and Barak was Marlen Esparza, whom Estrada defeated in 2019 to win the WBA interim flyweight title. While Estrada thinks there are better opponents out there for her, she isn't closing the door on a possible rematch with Esparza.

"Honestly, I think I can go on with big fights without Marlen and make the money that I want to make without her, but I am willing to fight her again, of course, because I know it's a fight that the fans want to see," she said. "Obviously I'd have to go to 112 [lbs] because she won't come down to meet me anywhere, so I'll go to 112. I'll even go to 115 If she wants."

Estrada also mentioned IBF female bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges as another fighter that she would like to step into the ring with.

"I think a fighter like Ebanie Bridges would be cool. It would be it'd be a fun fight. I really love Ebanie," Estrada said. "I think she's done a great job at just promoting herself and just not giving a damn what anybody thinks and I really admire her for that, and I think her and I, promotional-wise and as far as styles and excitement, would be a really fun fight."
