WBA minimumweight Seniesa Estrada wants to see Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fight Jermall Charlo in 2022.
Canelo is expected to return for a cruiserweight fight against Ilunga Makabu for the WBC belt in May, after unifying the whole 168lb division. It had been suggested that he dropped back down to 160lbs, with the WBC middleweight champion a potential opponent.
The 29-year-old American next fights Maria Santizo on December 18 in an event to be shown on DAZN, and speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show she explained what she wanted from next year.
“I would love to see Charlo and Canelo, I think that’s a fight that would definitely have to happen,” she said. “That’s one fight I’m looking forward to.”
Estrada was in no doubt that the Mexican would emerge victorious.
“Canelo beats anybody in his division and even in divisions that aren’t his natural division,” she explained.
“He’s the best right now, he’s on another level. I’m excited to watch him.”
