Gabe Rosado may have had 43 fights as a professional, but on Saturday night he steps into unknown territory when he makes his light heavyweight debut against Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez.
Ramirez's last fight was an unsuccessful world title challenge against WBA 175lb champion Dmitry Bivol in November, and now the Mexican looks to get back to winning ways.
With Ramirez being the more experienced operator at 175lbs, it's no surprise that many are picking the 31-year-old to get the win this weekend, however, DAZN Boxing analyst Sergio Mora believes that Rosado does have the tools to inflict a second straight defeat on 'Zurdo'.
"Gabe Rosado needs to do exactly what he did with a bigger, stronger fighter Daniel Jacobs, slow down the pace of the fight, move around the ring on the inside, push the bigger man back," Mora said on the latest instalment of JABS.
"On the outside use your legs, stay on the outer perimeter of the ring, avoid firefights, these are all things that Gabe Rosado knows how to do because he’s a veteran.
"But we’re not going to see that Rosado anymore. That’s in the past Mannix, now he uses this [Mora points to his head], Gabe Rosado knows how to use that experience so I think as many people don’t give Rosado a chance to win this fight, I will go on record and say that he will put up a damn good fight and it’s going to be up to the judges to see if he can get the rounds."
