Adam Azim will be an interested spectator when Dalton Smith faces Jose Zepeda this weekend, but that has not stopped the Slough prospect from plotting his own moves.
Azim and Smith appear to be on a collision course as two of Britain’s best super-lightweights, but a meeting between the pair seems to be way off.
Smith will step up in class on Saturday when he goes in with the former world title challenger live on DAZN and victory will elevate him in the rankings.
Azim is focusing on his own career and his trainer, Shane McGuigan, has provided a big update on what could be next for his fighter.
“We’re looking at options right now,” said McGuigan when speaking to Boxing Scene.
“There’s a couple of American fighters we’re looking at.
“We asked Harlem Eubank if he was interested in the fight and they were interested and then they decided they wanted the fight up at welterweight, which was quite disappointing as we got quite far into negotiations with them.”
